MINTIT, South Korea’s leading secondhand phone trading platform, is introducing a personal data deletion feature through a new app. This feature builds on the success of its AI-powered phone purchasing kiosk, MINTIT ATM, which has significantly contributed to the company's growth.
On the 30th, MINTIT (CEO: Lee Hwan Yong) announced the launch of its personal data deletion app, MINTIT Safe.
MINTIT Safe is an app designed to completely resolve the top concern in used phone transactions worries about residual or recoverable personal data on devices. After agreeing to the terms of service and completing identity verification, users can securely delete all personal information stored on their phones. For added peace of mind, a data deletion certificate is also provided to the users.
MINTIT expects the new service to help expand used phone trading practices across our society.
A MINTIT representative stated, “We believe that deleting personal data from unused phones is the first step toward promoting used phone transactions and supporting resource recycling. From the outset of our business, we’ve provided data deletion services to alleviate concerns about personal information leaks. With the launch of MINTIT Safe, we’re committed to creating a secure environment where anyone can trade used phones with confidence.”
MINTIT is offering MINTIT Safe for free and plans to explore various ways to expand its service scope and features in the future.
Since launching the AI-powered used phone trading platform MINTIT ATM in 2019, and through active collaborations with the three major telecom companies and manufacturers like Samsung, MINTIT has established itself as South Korea’s leading used phone trading platform, processing over one million units annually. The company’s proprietary data deletion technology has also been certified by global organizations, such as ADISA (Asset Disposal Information Security Alliance), further enhancing customer trust. Moving forward, MINTIT plans to actively promote a recycling culture centered on its core used phone business in response to changing market conditions. At the same time, it aims to refine its business model to meet the needs of key stakeholders, including the government and customers, and continue leading the industry.
